This is to usher in the radical blog that is
dedicated to awakening the patriotic fervour in Nigerians with a view to
fighting the societal ills that have bedevilled our beloved country and
left us crawling after many years of independence. Corruption and impunity are
the twin evils threatening the very existence of our dear country.
Bad
as the situation is, the docility of Nigerians in the face blatant brigandage
and outright robbery especially in the public/government service is a big disappointment
and tacit support or approval of this rape of our collective patrimony. Evil
persists when good men do nothing.
In a
developing country like ours, we have opportunity to vote out any corrupt/inept
government after four years, but we can put these kinds of governments on their
toes and insist they perform/deliver on all campaign promises. Riots and street
protests are not necessarily the way to go in a bid to fight for our rights.
We
thank God for the social media revolution, now everybody has a voice; Awake
Nigeria blog gives us all the platform to vent our spleen/frustrations, expose
corruption any/everywhere, name and shame corrupt officials. We have a platform
to discuss our collective destiny and set the agenda for our future, we can
also showcase the good works and achievements of leaders that are doing well.
We
cannot afford to keep quiet anymore, nobody will come from outer space to fight
for a better society for us, we have to do it ourselves. This is an open
invitation to join the conversation. Send all contributions to awakenaija1@gmail.com,
also feel free to comment on topics featured on this blog.
This
is not an entertainment blog, but one dedicated to changing Nigeria for the
better and holding corrupt officials accountable for their actions and
inactions.
The
late Afrobeat King Fela Anikulapo Kuti says, “Authority stealing pass arm
robbery”. He also says, “before we are to Jefahead (ie Enjoy) we must be ready
to fight for am”
