Job Exchange
In a bid to help the youth in Nigeria find jobs and also as a way of giving back to society, we are setting up a Job Exchange where job seekers will meet Job givers. So if you have jobs to give or you're seeking for jobs, let us know.
Send a mail with all the details to:
awakenaija1@gmail.com
May God use us to put smiles on the faces of our people, Amen!
What manner of Asset Declaration?
The the recent attempt by PMB and his vice to declare their asset is downright laughable and at best infantile. The law only requires them to fill the code of conduct form, but in a bide to appear 'holier than thou' they decided to do it publicly. Since they do not have respect for Nigerians, they put up the most shambolic asset declaration on history. We don't believe it and are not impressed.
A real asset declaration must include the following :
1. Description and address of your property.
2. Bank accounts, the banks and amounts.
3. Shares and their values in companies.
4. Assets of spouses and other dependants.
If all these are not done then you're joking, just go to code of conduct bureau and collect the forms and fill in rubbish like our leaders have been doing.
Don't ever claim to be what you're not.
The governors that refuse to declare their assets publicly should not be condemned as they are within the law and do not want to be hypocritical like their bosses.
Righteousness exalts a nation.
Rising Sexual Perversion
I am very alarmed at the rising cases of rape and other sundry abuse especially of minors in Nigeria. This phenomenon is happening in virtually all parts of the country. Kids are no longer safe with family members and neighbours. Ladies can no longer walk the streets without fear.
Parents should be very very alert these days as anybody can be the culprit; father, uncle,
brother, neighbours, pastors etc. And when it happens please speak out.
Authorities concerned should give stiffer penalties and also offer psychological help to
traumatized kids. God help Nigeria

The Heavenly Party!
While speaking in a PDP rally in Makurdi last week, the gubernatorial candidate for Benue State Hon. Terhemen Tarzoor in his misguided enthusiasm claimed that PDP is the only party that is available in heaven(ehn?).
You have been drafted by one Ali Baba to cover his tracks, just restrict yourself to that before you incur the wrath of God. A word is enough.....

A Government of Saints Eh!
IBB recently granted an interview to the EFCC in-house magazine where he said that compared to the current government, his government was run by saints. This audacity is coming up now because he was not brought to book over the pillage our economy under his watch.
He can say whatever he likes but we know better, and the day of reckoning will surely come.
Gosh!

Financing our First Ladies.
We have been told times without number that the position of First Lady of Nigeria and of the 36 states is unconstitutional, yet these women travel everywhere both at home and abroad with all manner entourage, spending money that they get from-God-knows-where. All these women are also engaged in one fake philanthropic programme or the other, the real aim of all these fake programmes is just to have a platform to compliment their husbands in stealing the country dry.
It will be wonderful to bring all these women to book and have them explain their source of funding, rendering proper accounts in the process. Spending unbudgeted funds is corruption and not accounting for funds given to you is evil.

In whose interest please?
One of the ways governors steal our money is through an illegal and unconstitutional contraption called Joint Account. The scenario is, they collect all the Local Government allocations to their state, give the chairmen enough to pay salaries/security stipend then simply swallow the rest, no questions asked.
Now the evil side of this action is that the Local Government is the third tier of governance in Nigeria and should get their allocations directly for their own peculiar development programmes.
The shock however is the that the national assembly gave the people an opportunity to assert the autonomy of the LGs, an amendment bill was sent to all state assemblies in Nigeria to vote on, guess what? They voted no and rejected autonomy for the Local Governments, it sounds unbelievable but it's true.
We need to ask our state assembly members whose interest they are protecting, now we know how they conspire to siphon our resources. We have the right to demand that they vote on this issue again, where your assembly member decides to go against your wishes, please remember that you have the power of recall.

Hostile Politics must STOP!
A few weeks after the burning of GEJ campaign buses in Jos, information filtering in indicates that the PDP is facing a difficult time campaigning in one of the states in the Northwest. We call on the governor to rein in his hoodlums and give room for a level playing field for all parties in that state, he should think of what will happen if other governors begin to give tacit support to thuggery and make inflammatory statements. Let there be peace please.
Once again, Africans get it wrong
News filtering in from Niamey, Niger republic has is that Charlie Hebdo riots have been on for two days running. Churches are being burnt and Christians killed. This type of unfortunate scenarios have played out before in Northern Nigeria, people killed and churches burnt as a result of something that happened far away from the continent. This kind of reaction is quite unfortunate because innocent people bear the brunt of issues they know nothing about.
Our Muslims brothers must realise that not all white men with European names are Christians, some people do not even believe in God; infact some of them consciously worship the devil.
This is a passionate appeal that Africans should stop this idea of killing each other as a result of the misdemeanor of 'Rascals' and probably drug addicts in foreign lands. Enough is Enough.

As it was in the beginning......
I think OBJ is just going back to the military tradition of esprit de corps, after all GEJ is just a bloody civilian. Once a General, always a General. The bonds of being in battle together is not a joke, Shikena!
OBJ's Volte-Face!
Grandpa OBJ, at the time you brought GEJ, you were full of praises. Now you denigrate the man at will, i am personally not impressed because i hold you responsible for whatever we are seeing today. This gross error of judgment is not acceptable from a General because lives depend on it, you misjudged the character and competence of your protégé or you did it for purely selfish reasons.
You have to apologise to Nigerians first and atone for your sins before we take you seriously in future. Thank you.
UNROLLING THE CARPET
A lot of things and issues have over the years been swept under the proverbial carpet in Nigeria, this action is not only corrupt but also responsible for the sorry state of our dear country. Part of what we have resolved to do on this blog is to unroll this carpet and revisit some of these issues so that we can ask questions and compel our leaders to take action. Our vacuum cleaners are set.

Our Democracy is no longer nascent!
I am fed up, irritated and outraged by our corrupt leaders using the "Nascent Democracy" cliché to excuse the plunder of our resources by corrupt officials. I also want to use this medium to declare that our democracy is no longer nascent, what is wrong with our country is simply corruption and impunity.
Lack of accountability will destroy any country of the world, you give a man so much resources and there is no mechanism for him to render accounts? That is why local government chairmen, governors and the presidency is wallowing in so much corruption and ineptitude. Accountability is one of the most important reasons why the private sector is more efficient and credible than the public sector.
In the private sector, operational budgets are made at the beginning of every year; monthly, quarterly and yearly reports are rendered. This process keeps the operators on their toes thereby ensuring profitability or avoidance of losses. Imagine if the all the three tiers of government are run in line with this principle, i bet you thievery will greatly reduce. Put the spotlight on any man and watch him behave himself. The national assembly must as a matter urgency make it mandatory for everybody holding any government position to render account of their stewardship periodically, they must run these places like corporations. Even angels will be tempted with billions and billions of naira in their control and not being under compulsion to render accounts.

Peaceful Elections 2015
As the 2015 elections approach, the Nigerian youth who are usually misled into causing mayhem and destruction must resolve not to be used this time around; before, during and after the elections. The nation can only grow in an atmosphere of peace and besides those using you will never invite their own kids to join. Please be inspired by pictures above and keep the peace, leaders should also be prepared to speak up when things go wrong.
These men know where to meet and drink tea, coffee and champaign while mumus will collect five thousand and kill themselves. God is not happy when his creation are senselessly murdered like that!
Welcome to Awake Nigeria Blog!
This is to usher in the radical blog that is
dedicated to awakening the patriotic fervour in Nigerians with a view to
fighting the societal ills that have bedevilled our beloved country and
left us crawling after many years of independence. Corruption and impunity are
the twin evils threatening the very existence of our dear country.
Bad
as the situation is, the docility of Nigerians in the face blatant brigandage
and outright robbery especially in the public/government service is a big disappointment
and tacit support or approval of this rape of our collective patrimony. Evil
persists when good men do nothing.
In a
developing country like ours, we have opportunity to vote out any corrupt/inept
government after four years, but we can put these kinds of governments on their
toes and insist they perform/deliver on all campaign promises. Riots and street
protests are not necessarily the way to go in a bid to fight for our rights.
We
thank God for the social media revolution, now everybody has a voice; Awake
Nigeria blog gives us all the platform to vent our spleen/frustrations, expose
corruption any/everywhere, name and shame corrupt officials. We have a platform
to discuss our collective destiny and set the agenda for our future, we can
also showcase the good works and achievements of leaders that are doing well.
We
cannot afford to keep quiet anymore, nobody will come from outer space to fight
for a better society for us, we have to do it ourselves. This is an open
invitation to join the conversation. Send all contributions to awakenaija1@gmail.com,
also feel free to comment on topics featured on this blog.
This
is not an entertainment blog, but one dedicated to changing Nigeria for the
better and holding corrupt officials accountable for their actions and
inactions.
The
late Afrobeat King Fela Anikulapo Kuti says, “Authority stealing pass arm
robbery”. He also says, “before we are to Jefahead (ie Enjoy) we must be ready
to fight for am”
Join

and more meaningful.
